Milan, September, 11 – Gridspertise announced today a significant advancement in its collaboration with the Roman distribution system operator Areti enabling real-time access to critical "First Gasp" and "Last Gasp" messages through the advanced A2GO Areti’s platform, grid orchestrator system.
The real-time availability of last and first gasp events improves visibility into network health and ensures a more efficient and responsive approach to grid management strategy. Areti has long been a user of the Gridspertise Head End System, benefitting already of the First and Last Gasp functions. The introduction of the new functionality that allows to publish the key data points of first and last gasp directly on the DSO’s legacy grid orchestrator system, offers significant advantages beyond mere meters management, enabling Areti to better monitor its low voltage grid.
This is achievable because Areti uses Gridspertise's Open Meters and Head End System, acting as sensors for gathering grid and energy flow data, especially from distributed renewable sources. Open Meters come equipped with First and Last Gasp, two features that provide valuable insights of power distribution grid health: First Gasp sends a message to the data collection server when the meter is powered up, allowing for precise tracking of its return to the grid; while Last Gasp enables the meter to send a final message to the server upon power loss, even with limited remaining energy reserves.
"Enhancing monitoring and control of low voltage grid is key to achieve cost-effective management of the network and for increasing the reliability to the final customers", said Alberto Leoni, Key Account Manager at Gridspertise. "By providing real-time access to last and first gasp message, Areti can gain valuable insights into the health of its network and take proactive steps to address potential issues before they escalate, minimizing downtime and ensuring consistent power delivery."
Along with the recent milestone of 1 Million Rometrix smart meter installations, this latest development is part of a broader initiative to support Areti in re-engineering and optimizing its metering infrastructure, underscoring Gridspertise commitment to innovation and customer support.
